for which用法

句子中文原意是‘’1型比2型高效但设备昂贵‘’，请问下面的翻译有误吗，for which是否用对了？

这个用法是不对的，原因有2（最主要是第二个原因）。

1）but后面的句子可以看作是另一个独立的句子，只是用逗号断句了。
而which语句作从句应该是整个句子的一部分，在句子中作修饰成分。
这样写比较好：
Type 1 is a much faster and efficient solution, for which the hardware requirements are more costly.

这里之所以把 than Type 2 去掉了，是因为第二个原因。

2）which在这里所指不明，可以是Type 1也可以是Type 2。

所以，最后的建议还是拆分句子，分成两条语句来写。有时短句表达更为清晰。
Type 1 is a much faster and efficient solution than Type 2. However, the hardware requirements for it are more costly.
这里的it就是指上个句子的主语Type 1，语义具有延续性，不容易搞混的，不像which从句用于修饰时往往有就近原则的困扰。
