英语的名词有分 singluar 同 plural，绝大部份的plural 是singluar 的变化字。用 -s 、-es、-ies 还是其他字尾是有一定视律的。 Regular plural 大部份 plural 是在 singluar 加字尾 -s，尤其当本来的 singular发音以 voiceless consonant 结尾，voiceless consonant 包括[p]、[t]、[k]、[tʃ] (church)、[f]、[θ] (thistle
thigh)、[s]等等。 boy boys girl girls cat cats chair chairs 但如 singular 发音以发丝音辅音(sibilant)结束如—[s]、 [z]等，加字尾 -es。 dish dishes glass glasses judge judges phase phases witch witches 以上是大部份的singular 转plural 的规律，但仍有其他如 -oes 及 -ies rules。 -oes rule 名词以 o 结尾而 o 前面是一个 consonant，则 plural 用 -oes hero heroes potato potatoes volcano volcanoes -ies rule 名词以 y 结尾而 y 前面是一个 consonant，则删去y而用 -ies cherry cherries lady ladies 但如果名词以 y 结尾而 y 前面是一个 vowel，则只加 -s day days monkey monkeys 其实还有一大堆 irregular plurals，𠮶啲要靠死记。 要深入了解 singular 同 plural，请参阅下面网址。 2006-11-21 19:50:07 补充： Sorry

主要是发音问题 like boys: if it"+es"-->O & I (i.e. 2 vowels together)--->can't pronounce the same to "radios" and "bamboos" when you learn phoics

eg : bus s尾 唔通用buss? 为免咁所以buses
