Gurbangal Festival, also known as Eid al-Adha in Latin, is celebrated as a day of sacrifice and is one of the three major religious festivals in Islam, alongside Eid al-Fitr (Ramadan Festival) and the Prophet's Birthday. It is a significant event for China's Muslim population. In Arabic, "Gurbangal" is referred to as Eid al-Adha, which means "festival of the sacrifice." Both "Gurbangal" and "Adha" carry connotations of "sacrifice" and "dedication," leading to the alternative names "Sacrifice Festival" or "Festival of Slaughter." It is also transliterated as "Kurban." In 2015, China's Gurbangal Festival fell on September 24th according to the Gregorian calendar, while the United Nations designated it as September 23rd.
