短语，也称作词组，是两个或更多的词在一起连用、意义上相对完整但不能独立成句的语言单位。和词一样，不同的短语在句子中 可充当不同的成分。常见的短语有以下八种：
1) 名词短语（Noun Phrase)
The books on the shelves belong to Professor Wang.书架上的书是属于王教授的。
2) 动词短语（Verb Phrase)
They put forward a suggestion. 他们提出了一个建议。
3) 不定式短语（Infinitive Phrase)
She will teach me to sing the song. 她将教我唱这首歌。
4) 动名词短语(Gerundial Phrase)
I always enjoy going to concerts.我总是乐于听音乐会。
5) 分词短语(Participle Phrase)
Hearing the good news，she jumped with joy.一听到这个好消息，她高兴得跳了起来。
6) 介词短语（Prepositional Phrase)
There is a village at the foot of the mountain. 在山脚下，有一个村庄。
7) 形容词短语（Adjective Phrase)
The students are full of enthusiasm. 这些学生满怀热情。
8) 副词短语（Adverbial Phrase)
A moment later, they found the last child. 过了一会儿，他们找到那个丢失的孩子。
