原文： The Magic Earth Genie
1. Pol, Lu and Tea were very naughty children. They were horrible to their teachers and friends… and even to their parents.
2.They trampled on the grass and flowers. They tipped up rubbish bins and played in the rubbish. They left lights burning everywhere and never turned off any taps… And their bedrooms looked like rubbish dumps!
3.Sometimes, Pol, Lu and Ted sneaked outside at night and burnt poles of rubbish and old newspapers. Thick black clouds of smoke rose up into the sky.
4.Sometimes they took a CD player with them and listened to their favourite pop songs very, very loudly!
5.The other people in their town were very angry. They called a meeting to see what they could do.
‘Those children are not good for our town! They make too much noise and too much rubbish!’ shouted an old man. ‘And the smoke they make is bad for our health’.
6. ‘If they keep on doing bad things, we will tell their parents they must leave, said the town policeman and everyone agreed.
Pol, Lu and Ted’s parents were very worried. They knew that the children should not behave so badly, but they could not make them stop.
7.One lovely sunny day, Pol, Lu and Ted went to the beach. They took their CD player and their favourite CDs, some newspapers for lighting a fire, and lots of things to eat and drink… all in plastic bags.
8.They played their music very, very loudly. They threw their plastic bags into the sea. Other people moved away from them because of the noise and smoke and rubbish!
9.Suddenly Lu saw something. ‘Look!’ he said to the others. ‘There’s something in the sand!’
They all raced over and Pol pulled out a strange-looking bottle. It was made of beautiful coloured glass and had a stopper in th top.
‘I wonder what’s inside?’ said Lu.
10.The pilled the stopper out of the bottle. At first nothing happened but then… WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!! There was a huge flash of light!
