1. each着重于个别的“每个”，有“各自”的含义，并不强调整体概念。every着重于全体而不是个别的“每个”，有“整体”的含义，只能是一个整体中的每一个组成部分或单位。

试比较：

Each of them goes to a different factory. 他们各自去了不同的工厂。

Every one of them goes to the same factory. 他们每个人都去了同一个工厂。

2. each可用作形容词，也可用作代词，作代词时可以单独用作主语或宾语(作主语时，后面的谓语动词用单数形式)；every只能用作形容词，它不能单独作代词用，只有在和其它词构成复合代词或与名词连用时，才能用作主语或宾语。如：

3. each一般可用来指可数的固定的人或物中的一个，而every则还可以用来泛指一般的人或物。如：

Each and every are generally used as determiners before singular countable nouns. *each和every一般都作限定词, 用於单数可数名词之前.
