older和elder都是年长的，老的，的意思 可以说older brother 也可以说 older brother 但是当old表示比谁大几岁的时候 不能用elder替代 这时用法就不同了 例如 She is older than you 但不能说 She is elder than you 懂了吗？^-^

elder通常于名词前作定语用，而不能用在be动词或系动词后作表语 即This is my elder brother 而older作“年长的”解时，则正好与之相反，它用作表语，而不用 作定语形容词 即He is older. eldest和oldest区别也是如此。 例如: My eldest aunt is three years older than my mother
