measure可用作及物动词,也可用作不及物动词。用作及物动词时可接名词或代词作宾语,偶尔也接由疑问词引导的从句作宾语。可用于被动结构。

measure有时还可用作系动词,后接形容词作表语,此时measure的主动形式含有被动意义。

measure作“措施,步骤”解时,常用于复数形式。作“措施”解时还可接动词不定式

表示“一部分地”,可用in a measure或in some measure。表示“大部分地”,可用in great measure或in large measure。例如:

The whole thing was in (a) great/large measure a mistake.

整个事件大部分是个错误。
