Zheng He , the most eminent maritime explorer in Chinese history, was sent to the West by the emperor of the Ming dynasty to stabilize the border defense and to develop the trade. For the next 28 years, Zheng He had sailed to the West for seven times with his teams which consisted of more than 100 thousand people in all.
