应该是in a place。
on表示在---之上；在---时候。in表示在---内，在---里；在---期间。
In有3种空间的概念；一种是在一个比较封闭的立体空间中。如；in a room，in a building， In a shop， in a car另一种用法是在一个平面的地方里。如；in a garden，in a town，in the city centre， in China。第三种是用于在有身体接触的情况下，一般是液体里。如；in a pool， in the sea，in a river。On也有两种空间的解释一种是在某一水平的平面，紧贴着的上面，比如on the shelf，on a plate，on the balcony，on the floor。还有一种不一定是水平的，但也是有接触面的，比如on the wall， on the door，on the ceiling。
