英语定语从句中关系副词的使用？

关系副词引导定语从句时只起状语作用，既不能作动词的宾语，也不能作介词的宾语。
那么为什么这个句子The man is said to come from a town where nobody knew.是错的，而The bookstore where her sister works is the largest one in Nanjing.却是对的？？这句话不也是做了句子的宾语吗？

比如where=in which或者at which

作动词/介词的宾语的只能是关系代词

也就是说，在动词/介词后面只能接which或that，不能接where/when之类的

而where/when只能接在名词后面

The man is said to come from a town where nobody knew.中

定语从句中明显是town作knew的宾语，也就是nobody knew

所以应该用which或that

正确句子是The man is said to come from a town which nobody knew.
