如：1 Tom usually plays football in the afternoon(主+谓+宾+地点状语)
2 He was elected monitor of the class.（主+系+表+补语）
复杂句就是从句，由几个简单句复合而成，
如：一、定语从句，The girl who is reading is my friend.
这个复杂句由两个简单句构成：1.the girl is my friend
2.who is reading
句子1是复杂句中的主句；句子2 是复杂句中的从句。
二、主语从句，Whether he is coming or not doesn't matter too much.
三、表语从句，That is what he meant.
四、宾语从句，She asked me which I liked best.
五、状语从句，We must hurry off lest we should miss the train.
六、同位语从句，The fact that you told a lie is unforgivable.
简言之，简单句中只有一个动词，而复杂句有多个动词。
