vested interest源于法律用语,多用于正式文体或者与法律相关的场合。
vested的本意是“既定的”,interest 这个词除了做”利益”解外,还可以解释为“感兴趣的人或事”。
vested interest,可以理解为“既定的关注点”或者“初衷、本意”
Did you have any vested interest in what you were advocating in this presentation?可以理解为“你们发表这次课堂演讲的初衷是什么?或者说 “你们发表这次课堂演讲想要让大家对哪些问题引起关注?”
部分外教喜欢用这种比较正式的方式发问:)如果说的随性一些,可以说“Can you explain the main points of this presentation?
