1.整句意思是是“为了证明对于生态系统稳定性的理解同样可以被应用于理解其他情境下的稳定性。”
2.第一个that应到整个后半句当demonstrate（论证，证明）的宾语， an understanding of stability 是上面提到的that引导的从句的主语。
3.sth can be applied to do sth
