The importance of oral English

我写英文论文。。。现需要找一些关于 英语口语的重要性 的资料。。。希望大家能帮帮我。。。中文也可以。。。帮我多找几点。。。做好是一段一段的。。。资料好我会加悬赏分。。。有点急。。。
大概一千多吧。。。最好是英文的。。。
我要的是英语的重要性而不是学习英语的方法

1. The Importance English
There can be no doubt that English is one of the world's most widely used languages. People use a language in one of three ways: as a native language, as a second language, or as a foreign languge. English is spoken as a native language by over three handred million people in the United States, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, some caribbean countries and South Africa. As asecond language, English is often necessary for official business, education, information and other activities in many countries, it is one of the few "working" languages of the United Nations.
It is said that English has become the language of international trade and transport. Most pilots in planes travelling from one country to another use it to talk with airports. All ships sailing on the oceans call for help by radio in it. It has been said that 60 percent of the world's radio broad casts and 70 percent of the world's mail uses English. At international sports meets, and international of scientists English is the language most commonly used and the most widely used.
English has in fact become the language of international cooperation is science and technology. The most advanced resuits in space, nuclear and computer research are published in it. A scientist who speaks and writes English is in closer touch with the scientists in other countries than one who doesn't.

2. The importance of English

Everyone know English is important, but not everyone do take much attention on it.

Recently I received a call from a HR company, they provide me a good opportunity to join a company which is top 500 global corporations (world's top 500 companies), and the salry is not bad.

It should be a very good chance for me. But I have not enough confidence on my English. If my oral is very good, I think I could catch it!

Opportunity is for prepared head. So let't make a little progress every day!

3. The importance of English
No doubt. English is one of the world’s most widely used language. As a second language, English is often necessary for business, information and other activities in a great many countries. Today, there are more and more foreigners come to our country. English has, in fact, become the language of international cooperation in science and technology. Also English has come into our daily life. For example, we can see “ Made in China ” on our cups, “No smoking” in the park and so on.

Generally speaking, English is much more important than any other language. It has become the global language. As a matter of fact, there are more than ten countries speak English, for example, Canada, Australia, England and so on. They’re all developed countries. They lead the world’s development. It’s the main reason that English can make so great effort.

If we don’t have enough English knowledge, we would fall behind others. So we should spend much time on learning English. Specially, the oral English --- which is important in communicating with others.

4.The Importance of English
Frankly speaking, it is highly essential to know the language for communication. In general, the most popular language is English. In this computer age, English is the only language that any one can understand. So to say, it has become as an ideal language for expressing our feelings. First, we have to learn the language and then we have to gain fluency in the language. Unless we have the fluency in English language, it would not be possible to work with the computer. If you do not know English, then you would be in need of a translator to do the job.

The first stage of learning this language would be very interesting. Once you are fluent with the alphabets, slowly you can learn many words. It would always be better to follow the method of reading first, then writing. You can use the picture books for this purpose. When you feel that you are familiar with the words, you can form sentences. This is the most interesting stage to learn. You just think of a sentence in your mother language, and try to write the same sentence in English. There could be some mistakes. But you should not bother about it. But, you have to write the same sentence using many different words till you are satisfied with your sentence. If you follow this way, very soon you can create sentences of your own.

The next step is learning the grammar of the language. It is quite simple and very systematic compared with other languages. There are certain rules and regulations for each and every topic in grammar of this language. As long as you follow the rules and regulations, it would be a difficult task to make mistakes. You would gain that much guidance from the grammar. The presentation is the most important factor in communicating your feelings. So, naturally you must be sure while you are presenting. what you really wish to say. At any point, do not try to write or speak, beyond your capability. Even if it is a small and simple sentence, it would reach the receiver perfectly. This is our basic idea. Slowly, you can improve the standard of your language by practice. If you know to form the sentences, it is more than enough to go deep into the subject. Though this only an article about the importance of the English Language, we have to learn some of the basic points in presenting the sentences. There are three different types of sentences: They are, 1. Statements. 2. Interrogative sentence. 3. Imperative sentence. 4. Exclamatory sentence. To begin with, you must know the difference between a phrase and a sentence.

Phrase is a group of words, which gives meaning, but not complete meaning. A sentence is a group of words, which makes a complete sense.
1. Statement: The sentence starting with nouns or pronouns is known as statement.
Example: Rome is a church city.
2. Interrogative sentence: There are two types of interrogative sentences.
a. “wh” type question. The sentences starting with the following fords are “wh” type question. What, When, Where, Who, How many, How long and etcetera. Example: Why did you come late? 2. What are you doing there?
b. “yes or no” type question. For which sentences you get the reply either with yes or no they are called yes or no type question. Example: Is your father a doctor? The answer: No sir.
3. Imperative sentence: The sentence that gives command, request, and advice is known as Imperative sentence. Example: Walk on the pavement. 2. Eat regularly.
4. Exclamatory sentence: The sentence that expresses the sudden feelings or strong emotions is known as exclamatory sentence.
Example: Alas! He is dead. 2. Oh! What a beautiful sight.

When you are familiar with the above points, it would be very interesting to you to create many wonderful sentences. In general, the sentences are divided into three different kinds. They are, 1. Simple sentence. 2. Compound sentence. 3. Complex sentence.

Though it very essential to have knowledge in handling the above sentences, we have to study them separately. In this essay, we are talking about the importance of the language. Many people make mistakes even with the usage of articles. It is a pity that even scholars may make mistakes. So, you should not get dejected with your style of writing.

There is a lot of difference between these two. 1. a few 2. few When you want to say that you have friends, you have to say that,” I have a few friends.” When you want to say that you do not have friends, you have to say that, “I have few friends.”

This is the opposite meaning of the word, many. Apart from these, there are many points to be discussed later. When you feel that you are already strong on the above subjects, you can develop your knowledge for betterment of your knowledge. As long as you educate yourself, you will come across many new things. There is no end for learning. All the above points are used in the normal usage of English. The literature value of the English Language is entirely different and should be dealt separately.

5. Using English effectively and making a good living have much in common. The study of English encompasses much more than the mechanics of grammar, punctuation and spelling. Through preparatory and advanced courses in literature and composition, students are afforded the opportunity to sharpen their critical reading and writing skills.
The English curriculum develops the students' ability to communicate and also fosters a strong liberal arts background. Such a background gives students not only marketable communication skills, but also an understanding of the history and development of civilization.

Careers in education have provided satisfying occupations for English majors in the past and will continue to do so. However, the ability to handle language effectively and clearly is valuable in any occupation the college graduate may pursue. In fact, the English major is invaluable preparation for many professional careers.

Professional schools find that students who have specialized narrowly in their undergraduate educations often enter without broad general knowledge and without the skills of communication necessary for success in their chosen professions. Results of extended studies indicate that a major in English is particularly effective as pre-professional training for students going into law, business or government.

6. Importance and influence

Numbers
The English who arrived in New Zealand were the largest group to settle in the country after 1800. Until the 1970s, the English consistently represented more than 40% of foreign-born people in New Zealand. Only in the 1860s did they constitute less than half of all arrivals from Great Britain and Ireland.

Influence
The English were therefore the most influential group in New Zealand. Their influence was magnified by other factors. They were often particularly well represented in the 19th century among the élite of the colony, and therefore had power. Among MPs in office between 1854 and 1890, they constituted almost half. English people were also among the earliest arrivals, comprising about 65% of all those from the United Kingdom who came before 1850. As first-comers they were in a position to establish patterns and traditions, particularly in the influential organised settlements of Wellington and Canterbury. So the English had a disproportionate influence in shaping the institutions of the new society.

English culture and the British Empire
It is difficult to isolate the impact of English people from the generic influence of English culture, which was dominant in the institutions and people of the British Empire. It is also difficult to exactly define ‘English culture’, or the characteristics of ‘Englishness’, since there was an extraordinary range of cultures from different regions and classes of English society.

Because the large numbers of Scots and Irish who settled New Zealand had previously been subjects of the British Empire, they had already been influenced strongly by the English, most obviously in their use of the English language. Many of the institutions and habits established in New Zealand were English, more because they were the accepted order of the British Empire than because they were created by individual English people. Through the political and military power of the empire, the indigenous people of New Zealand, the Māori, were often encouraged to adopt English practices, such as dress and language.

Less English than the UK
Despite the importance of the English, their story in New Zealand needs to be qualified in two respects. First, although many English people came to New Zealand, their representation among all those from Britain and Ireland was less than it was back home. In other words, New Zealand has always been less English than the United Kingdom. And despite, or more likely because of, their large numbers the English, unlike other immigrant groups, did not tend to establish institutions exclusive to their own people. There were a few sporting ‘Albion’ clubs, and a Church of England was established, but the former quickly lost any English associations and the latter attracted other groups, especially Irish from the Church of Ireland. For the most part, the English established institutions which may have been English in origin, but were intended to cater for the whole society. The English assumed that English patterns were the correct way to do things.

7. Is English Skill That Important

Recently, an exteremly hot discussion on whether English skills is that important on Sina.com.cn is brought to my attention. The original title is "Does English skills determine your fate?" The title sounds astonishing, doesn't it?

It seems from the result of the vote, more people (50% vs 20%) agree with statement. While on the discussion board (Chinese site), most of participations complained about English's aggression to Chinese's territory.

I am also confused

I am also confused about this for a very long time. English has been successfully deployed to many countries as an international language. I write in English everyday and sometimes speak English. I see so many people struggling to learn and improve English - including me. Yes. I am very confused about what English really means to everyone.

Do we need mandarin, or Pu Tong Hua?

Let's take a look of the mandarin in China. Lots of my friends and I grew up in Luoyang and can only speak mandarin. We has lost the ability to speak the Hennan dialect, which has existed and been inherited for more than 1000 years. Mandarin is a great threat to the local language. It is good on the other hand, that no matter where I travel in China, there is no language difficulties - it is the official and most popular language.

Surprisingly, I visited Tibetan area last month. The guide there can also speak fluent mandarin. This helped me a lot. However, I cannot communicate with the groom. This was quite bad. Many reports complain that the government is stealing the Tibet from the Tibet people by stealing their language. It can be true in some terms. It is not a matter of the government is stealing or not, it is just a matter of fact.

Not only my home or Tibet, every city, every town and every village is facing the same problem. Maybe only Beijing and some Northeast province can survive. So my question is, should I insist to speak the local dialect?

However, I also have friends who cannot speak mandarin. When they visit me in Shanghai, he cannot be understood by people there. This has brought him a lot of trouble. It is difficult for him to find a job or to find new friends - the reason is simple, nobody will learn his language just to understand him.

Key learning

From my experience and my friend's, I learnt that a language is mainly for communication proposes. Sometimes there are major languages that are widely accepted, and the broad acceptance make it easier for people to communicate, it is beneficial to learn it.

How about English

When English is concerned, it is hard. Since the government enforces the adoption of mandarin and it is within the same country, people won't push back that much. However, if this adoption span across the border of countries, it will hurt the feeling of the people. It is reported that the people and government of France is working every hard to push back the aggression of English to their language.

No English, then what?

Today, I spent my whole day meeting with the representatives from all over the world. We have people come from Europe (UK, France, Finland, Norway, German, etc... ), from Middle East (Israel...), from Africa, Latin America, from Asia (China, India, Korea, Japan....). Of cause, there is lot of people from U.S.

The days session is conducted in English. I am surprised to find the English skills of European countries are very good, so does India. People from Asia tend to perform poorly in presentations. It is sad. This reminded me of the story of my friends. Just like that he cannot communicate with other people in China, we cannot easily communicate with others in the world. Yes. This is sad.

Meanwhile, it is very interesting that when I have meeting with people from Korea and Japan. It is a tough meeting. It is 100% percent sure that we need to speak English. Although I can only understand 30% of what the Japanese says and 70% of what Korean says, it is good enough since I can understand about 0% if they speak their native language.

It turns out when people using different languages meets, they need to find a common language that everyone can speak. English has been in place already. There is no doubt about it.

Certainly, we are not that comfortable to learn, imitate and speak the language that people in other countries are using, we have too learn something. English is the most practical one. My brother once studied the Interlingua (or the International Language) but he abundant at last. Interlingua successfully solves the problem that it does not force anyone to speak the language of the other - it is very equal ?everyone need to learn something that is completely new. But not so many people want to learn. It is a joke now, let alone it is still not fair since it looks like something between English and Spanish.

Not everyone needs English

For my friends and for my groom, if they don't need to travel, it is definitely unnecessary to learn mandarin. For anyone who don't need to go outside the country or meet with others come into the country, they don't need to learn English either. However, without English skills, one does limits the scope he can reach and will lose so many opportunities.

I am still confused, but it is clear that English is important for me

(1) We study spoken English so as to make oral communications, so this order of importance of oral English study should be followed: Fluency, Accuracy, and Appropriateness. That is to say, we have to pay more attention to practical communicating ability instead of only laying emphasis on the grammatical correctness.

我们学习口语目的是为了与别人进行交流,所以英语口语中的几个要素的重要次序应为:流利-准确-恰当。

(2) Try to find some partners practicing oral English together and English corner is a good place as where we may exchange English study experience, widen our sight and improve interest in English.

寻找学伴一起练习口语.英语角是个不错的地方,在那我们不但可以练习口语,还可以交流英语学习经验,开拓视野,提高英语学习兴趣。

(3) If English partners are not easy to get, then we have to create an English environment ourselves by speaking English to ourselves.

如果找不到学伴或参加英语角的机会很少,那么也没有关系,有很多种方法可以自己练习口语.比如通过自己对自己将英语来创造英语环境.可以对自己描述所看到的景物,英语口述自己正在作的事情。

*(4) This method is very effective and easy to insist on--interpreting Chinese-English novels or books. First we read the Chinese parts and then try to interpret them into English and then compare our interpretation with the original versions in the novels or books so that we can find out the mistakes, shortcomings and progresses in our interpretation.

(5) Interpreting what you hear---Changing Roles: Three people make a group: one speaks Chinese, one speaks English acting as the foreigner, one acts as interpreter. Then change roles. This is a good interpreting training method and is good for studying from one another. In addition, it may improve the responding ability and speed of students. The advanced stage of this method is simultaneous interpretation.

听译法-角色互换:三人一组,模拟翻译实战。一人将汉语,一人将英语,扮演老外,一人作翻译。练习一段时间后互换角色。这是一种非常好的翻译训练方法,也是很好的相互学习,取长补短的方法。而且可大大提高反应速度和能力。此法的高级阶段为同声传译,我们可以在听广播或看电视或开会时,把所听内容口译英文。

(6) Oral composition and 3-minute training method: This method is suitable for intense training. Making an oral composition about a certain topic for one minute the first time and record the composition on tape at the same time. Then listen to the composition and find out the room for improvement. Then make the same composition for two minutes for the second time and also record it. And at last repeat the above-mentioned for three minutes.

口语作文和3分钟训练法:此法适用于强化训练。找好一个题目作一分钟的口语作文,同时将其录音。听录音,找出不足和错误,就此题目再作两分钟的的口语作文,同样录音,再听并找出不足与进步,继续作三分钟口语作文。这是高级口语训练,效果不俗。

(7) Retelling exercise: Retell some articles or English stories in our own words.

复述练习:最简单也是最有效的口语学习方法。从治本上攻克英文的方法,特别适合初学者和中级学者,用自己的话背颂所听的英语故事或文章短文,应该大量地练习。

(8) If possible, we may read some English tongue twisters loudly and quickly with one or two cakes of candy in our mouth (just as the Chinese cross-talk actors do.) to train our oral cavity muscle and tongues suitable for English pronunciation.

如果可能我们也可以大声且快速朗读英文绕口令(就象相声演员练嘴),还可以同时口中含块糖以加大强化训练的力度。这样来强我们的口腔肌肉迅速适应英文发音,使我们的口语相当流利,清晰,而且还有自信。例如:

☆A big black bug bit the back of a big black bear. The big black bear bit back the big black bug.

☆This fish has a thin fin; That fish has a fat fin;

This fish is a fish that has a thinner fin than that fish.

(9) Paying more attention to phrases and small words as one major shortcoming of Chinese English (especially Chinese oral English) is that Chinese students tend to use big words in their oral language, but the idiomatic oral English is abundant with short, active and vivid phrases. And most of such phrases are made of small words.

特别注意短语(词组)和小词的运用,中国式的英语尤其是口语一个很大的缺点就是中国学生喜欢用大词,而真正地道的英语口语确是充满着短小,活泼,生动的短语,富有生气.而这些短语大部分有小词构成.

(10) Thinking in English.

(11) Oral English has its own features, but it is closely combined with other aspects of English, for example, writing may make oral English precise and accurate.

口语虽自有特色,但与英语的其它方面紧密相连。比如,经常练习写作,可使口语更加精准。

Sometimes, I am little bit interested in the reason why people should practise
their oral English in front of a mirror when there is no real partner. Why can
not practise when you are walking or doing something else. In other words, you can speak to yourself in English anywhere at anytime if you are eager to improve
your verbal English. You can raise your voice of speaking when there is no people around you, while if there are many to-and-fro people, you can just whisper to
yourself. Of course, provided you really do not care about the feeling of others toward your behavior, just keep what you are doing. Owing to my current major,
I seldom have the chance to practice my oral English in my class so that I should creat the environment of learning by myself. I will speak to myself in my mind on some topics and sometimes make a dialogue, although it is really weird. Sure, I am not crazy about doing that. It is only at some spare and boring time that I will practise what I mentioned above. I do not belong to that kind of person
who don't take others' opinion into consideration, so I won't speak out English
when there are many people around me just for practising.

Oral Enlish plays a very important role in real life. Some people can't find the right word when they communicate with others in English with the results that
they have the impression that they are poor at oral Enlish. With the time goes
by, they become more careful of picking up more exact word to express himself and that sometimes doesn't function very well. The fear of speaking English will come forth unconsciously accordingly.

Sometimes, it is not that they don't know the word to express but they have no
idea about which word should be chosen to make their expressions more profound.
It is self-evident that the process of picking up the ideal word will take some
time and another topic will appear by the other side and certainly the perfect word you choose has no chance of presenting itself. At this rate, the process of
picking up the ideal word will repeat all the time. After one round of conversation, you seldom got the chance of speaking.

The way of learning English varies people to people. Some are prone to learn from others' and follow the steps and advice of those victors in this field. While, some are inclined to find the way by themselves and can conclude their unique
way of learning. There is no criterion to measure which is better or worse.

As far as I am concerned, I am fond of reading those wonderful articles and some expressions, sentence structures, and different views toward life.In the same
way, I like reading some not-so-well-written articles not only because I can try my best to find the mistakes made in the article that can assure I won't make
the same mistakes anon but also because I can gain some very particular viewpoints toward the society and diverse experience of life.

I am not willing to be forced to receive some certain kinds of knowleage. Being forced seems to be abhorrent to every instinct of my body. I will become more
active to do those things out of my willingness. Whereas, I have to do many things most of the time and have already gotten used to this situation.

Language is a tool used for communication, so the ability to speak English fluently with pure pronunciation is required.

With the development of globalization, the society requires us to have a good grasp of a foreign language, which is really vital to our bright future. Not only should we learn the writing and reading skills, we should also obtain the speaking and listening skills which are more useful in our daily life.

It is a fact that English is the most widely used language in the world, more useful than any other foreign language, because it is increasingly used by people with different levels of proficiency and diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. People from different countries need to communicate with each other orally and most probably they will communicate in English. Obviously, English has become a universal language, or the international language.

With China's accession to the WTO and the economic globalization, more and more foreigners have come to seek their chances in China just because China is a huge market and they know that the huge market will give them unlimited business opportunities. They either make their investment in China or come to seek cooperation. As a result, there are many Sino-foreign joint ventures, Sino-foreign cooperative enterprises and foreign-funded enterprises in China now, especially in many big cities. And so when you go job-hunting, it is very likely that they will first be tested in oral English. It is no exaggeration to say that to job hunters, English is a stepping-stone to success. When you are having an interview, you are sure to be asked many questions in English and of course you are expected to answer them in English. If you do well, you stay, but if you cannot answer those questions well, you leave. That is to say, it is impossible for you to get the job. Many people are planning to further their study abroad and so naturally oral English is indispensable to them.

we are living in the english world. english become more and more popular nowadays. so the oral english play a important role. the person whose oral english is perfect can get more chance to enter into the company, do a good job in communicating with foreigners.
what is more, when deal with business problems, oral english is a big issue you can not ignore. nice oral english will make a bridge to success.

英语的重要性就是要永远的压倒汉语
